Q7. What do I do when my hot water tank is leaking?

Step 1 is to determine whether the leak is actually coming from, whether it’s from the the hot water tank or from a pipe surrounding it. Once you determine the tank is leaking, turn off the power supply to avoid wasting water.

If you have an electric water heater, simply locate your circuit breaker box and switch off the breaker specifically for your tank.

If you have a natural gas water heater, it should have an on/off switch or dial. Make sure it is set to “off”. Avoid closing the gas shut-off valve if possible. These valves can be critical and susceptible to failure over time, so it is best that they be left alone. Call Service Heroes to help you out!

Q8. Why can I smell gas? What’s the next step?

Gas leaks are sometimes highly unnoticed and can be very dangerous. If not treated quickly it can become highly flammable and possibly cause harm. Once you notice the smell, find your local gas meter located at the front of your property, turn the yellow handle to 90 degrees so that it is horizontal with the gas pipe. This will immediately shut the supply of gas into your home. Once turned off, contact Service Heroes and we will send out a technician to help you .

Q9. How can I reduce my energy bills?

Some tips:

  • Utilise power board: A power board can supply electricity to multiple appliances at the same time and allows you to switch off all appliances using the same switch.

  • Use timers and sensors: Use programmable timers and sensors to light outside sections
  • Separate your lighting: Separate the lights so you can choose which areas to light. light outside areas.
  • Conserve energy: Keep curtains and outside window shades closed to reduce the amount of energy needed to maintain a consistent temperature inside. Rather than heat your bedroom, add another blanket to your bed or use an electric blanket, wheat bag or hot water bottle.
